| The building is a new venue for concerts, theatre, trade fairs and sports events located on the outskirts of the city centre, adjacent to the main train station. As the venue is never permanently inhabited, the building is essentially a chamber for ephemeral events. The main events space accommodates up to 4,300 people during performances and contains retractable seating and a demountable stage for versatility. During the day, sunlight plays across the 25,000 bespoke pyramidal-shaped glass bricks embedded in the facade, producing glimmering lighting effects and dramatic shadows. In the evening the building awakens as the Fresnel lens-like surfaces of the glass bricks amplify the intensity of the controllable coloured lighting scheme, producing a glittering solitaire in the landscape.
